57 test negative in Siquijor jail drug testing

All 57 individuals tested during a search and seizure operation at the Siquijor District Jail yielded negative results on Friday, Sept. 5, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA)-Negros Island Region reported.

Thirty-two BJMP personnel and 25 Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs) underwent random drug testing, all with negative results.

No illegal drugs were also found during the operation.

On the same day, PDEA held a Drug Abuse Prevention Education lecture for 42 male PDLs, tackling the national drug situation, concepts of drug abuse, common drugs in the Philippines, and the salient provisions of Republic Act 9165.

PDEA also promoted its advocacy programs, including Operation Private Eye, Task Force Drug Courier, and Isumbong Mo sa PDEA.

The agency said the activity reflects its belief that enforcement and education must go hand in hand in the fight against illegal drugs.*
