5 arrested for possession of firearms

Five men, including a senior citizen, were nabbed for possession of illegal firearms in separate police operations in Negros Occidental on Saturday, December 12.

First to be arrested was Ricky Sanao, 48, of Hacienda Enriquita in Barangay Tinongan, Isabela.

Police operatives swooped down on his house to implement the search warrant for violation of Republic Act 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation law issued by La Carlota Regional Trial Court Executive Judge Cyclamen Jison Fernandez on December 10.

Recovered from the suspect’s possession was a .38 caliber revolver with one live ammunition and one fired cartridge.

Also arrested in Isabela town was Renante Tobis, 50, of Barangay Sibucawan.

Policemen went to his residence to apply the search warrant for violation of RA 10591 issued by Fernandez on December 10.

The suspect yielded a .38 caliber revolver with two live ammunition, three live ammunition of a 9mm caliber pistol, and one 5.56mm live ammunition.

Still in Isabela, laborer Lyn John Esmores, 32, of Hda. Concordia, Brgy. Guintubhan, was also arrested following the service of a search warrant for violation of RA 10591 issued by Fernandez on December 3.

Recovered from the suspect was one homemade 12-gauge short firearm with one live ammunition.

In La Castellana, 60-year-old Jhonny Villanueva, a laborer, was nabbed in his home at Brgy. Cabagnaan.

Policemen applied the search warrant for violation of RA 10591 issued by Fernandez on December 10.

The suspect yielded a .45 caliber pistol with two magazines and 14 live ammunition, and a .30 caliber rifle with five live ammunition.

In another operation, drug surrenderer Jojo Salva, 32, was arrested in his residence for possession of firearms and drugs at Brgy. Haguimit, La Carlota City.

The operation was by virtue of a search warrant issued by Fernandez for violation of RA 10591.

Recovered from the suspect were a homemade pistol, eight rounds and one spent shell of .38 S&W Special, three rounds of 9mm ammunition, a black coin purse, one roll of dried marijuana leaves, two sachets of suspected shabu, and drug paraphernalia.
