3 killed in motorcycle crashes  in Negros Occidental

Three people died in motorcycle crashes in Negros Occidental from Friday to Sunday, June 19 to 21, the police  reported.

The road crashes occurred in  Toboso, Hinoba-an, and Silay City.

In Toboso, a 45-year-old man died after the motorcycle he was riding crashed along the national highway in Sitio Bebang, Brgy. General Luna, Friday morning.

Police said the motorcycle was traveling from Vallehermoso, Negros Oriental, toward the Central Lopez transloading station when it allegedly overshot a curve, swerved to the opposite lane, and crashed into a coconut tree beside the road.

The driver sustained injuries and was brought to a hospital in San Carlos City, while the back rider was taken to a medical facility in Toboso where he was declared dead.

In Hinoba-an, a 49-year-old farmer died following a collision between two motorcycles along the national road in Brgy. 1 Poblacion on the evening of June 20.

Investigation showed that the victim was attempting to cross the highway when his motorcycle was struck by another motorcycle driven by a 21-year-old student.

The impact threw the victim onto the pavement, causing severe head injuries. He was declared dead on arrival at the Hinoba-an District Hospital.

Police said both motorcycle drivers did not possess driver’s licenses.

Meanwhile, a 29-year-old man died in a head-on collision involving two motorcycles in Brgy. Lantad, Silay City, shortly after midnight on June 21.

Police said the victim was driving toward Brgy. Lantad when his motorcycle collided with an oncoming motorcycle heading toward the Rizal Highway.

Both drivers and two passengers were rushed to a hospital for treatment. However, the 29-year-old driver was declared dead on arrival.
