2 road crashes leave 3 dead, one in critical condition

Three persons died while another was critically injured in two road crashes  in Negros Occidental, on Wednesday night, June 10.

In Manapla, a motorcycle rider died while another rider was critically injured in a collision at KM 39 of the National Highway in Brgy. Tortosa at around 9:50 p.m.

Police identified the fatality only as  “Jam,” of legal age and a resident of Brgy. 1-B, Manapla, who was driving a blue Yamaha Aerox 155 motorcycle.

The other driver was identified as  “JM,” 24, a resident of Hacienda Napongolan, Brgy. Tortosa, who was driving a red Rusi motorcycle without a plate number and without a valid driver’s license.

Police investigation showed that Jam was traveling from Manapla toward Victorias City, while JM had stopped at the center of the road and was attempting to cross to the opposite side to buy gasoline.

Police said Jam failed to notice the other motorcycle and collided with it.

Both drivers sustained injuries, with Jam declared dead  at the Dr. Ramon B. Gustilo Hospital in Manapla at around 9:58 p.m.

JM was brought to Saint Anne Hospital in Cadiz City and was reported in critical condition.

In Cauayan, two persons died after a Toyota Vios hit the rear of a tricycle at Purok 2, Brgy. Tuyom at around 11 p.m.

Police identified the fatalities as alias “Dolfo,” 40, a tricycle driver, and his passenger, alias “Jr,” 59.

Police investigation showed that the tricycle was traveling from Purok 2 toward Purok 3 when it was hit from behind by the Toyota Vios traveling in the same direction.

The victims sustained serious injuries and were rushed to the Cauayan District Hospital, where they were declared dead.

The Toyota Vios driver, identified as  “Bert,” 33, whom police said had no driver’s license, was placed under the custody of the Cauayan Municipal Police Station.*
