2 motorcycle riders killed in separate Negros Occidental road incidents

Two motorcycle riders died in separate road incidents in Kabankalan and Silay cities in Negros Occidental from Wednesday to Thursday, Aug. 19 to 20.

In Kabankalan City, a 44-year-old laborer died after his motorcycle went into a portion of the road undergoing repairs in Punta Coloso, Brgy. 6, at around 2 a.m. Thursday, August 20.

Police identified the victim only as alias “Toto,” a resident of Brgy. Mambugsay, Cauayan.

Initial investigation showed that Toto was driving a red Rusi 110 motorcycle from Kabankalan City proper toward Cauayan when he fell into the road section under repair.

He sustained severe head injuries and was brought by rescuers to the Lorenzo D. Zayco District Hospital, where he was declared dead.

Police said the victim had no driver’s license.

Meanwhile, a 23-year-old motorcycle rider died following a collision with a pickup truck along Rizal Street in Brgy. V, Silay City at around 6:30 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 19.

The victim, identified only as alias “May,” was driving a Honda Click from Brgy. Guinhalaran toward Silay City proper.

A Toyota Hilux driven by alias “Belle,” 75, was traveling in the same direction, police said.

Initial investigation showed that the pickup truck was making a left turn when the front portion of the motorcycle collided with the left side of the vehicle.

The motorcycle rider fell onto the cemented road and sustained severe injuries.

She was rushed to the Teresita L. Jalandoni Provincial Hospital but was declared dead.

The pickup truck and its driver were brought to the Silay City Component Police Station for proper disposition as authorities continued their investigation into the incident.*
