18 Kabankalan barangays recognized for sustained drug-cleared status

The Department of Interior and Local Government recognized 18 barangays in Kabankalan City for maintaining their drug-cleared status during a ceremony held at Zaycoland Hotel and Resort, on Monday, Dec. 9,

Mayor Benjie Miranda led the awarding of certificates and cash incentives to barangay officials for their continued efforts to keep their communities free from illegal drugs.

The 18 barangays recognized were Brgy. 2, Brgy. 7, Brgy. 8, Camansi, Camingawan, Camugao, Carol-an, Daan Banua, Inapoy, Linao, Oringao, Orong, Pinaguinpinan, Locotan, Tampalon, Tan-awan, and Tapi.

The recognition was affirmed by DILG City Local Government Operations Officer Ma. Fatima Daiz and Kabankalan police chief Lt. Col. Roberto Indiapé Jr.

Officials said the barangays met strict government criteria, including the absence of drug laboratories, illegal drug personalities, and known drug users.

All previously identified Persons Who Use Drugs (PWUDs) in these barangays have completed community-based rehabilitation programs and tested negative in random drug tests.

Miranda credited the achievement to strong collaboration among local government units, law enforcement, barangay leaders, and support agencies.*
