The Philippine National Police is deploying 1,612 personnel across the Negros Island Region to ensure the safety of students and teachers for the opening of classes on Monday, June 8.

Officers will be stationed at public and private schools, major thoroughfares, transportation terminals, and pedestrian crossings to maintain order and provide immediate assistance, the Police Regional Office Negros Island Region (PRO NIR) assured on Saturday.

These personnel will staff Police Assistance Desks and conduct foot and mobile patrols in support of Balik Eskwela 2026 activities, it said.

The PRO NIR added that teams will assist in traffic management, monitor high-density student areas, and coordinate closely with school authorities and local government units to address security concerns or emergencies.

PBrig. Gen. Romano Cardiño, acting PRO NIR director, stressed the need for collective responsibility to ensure the program’s success.

“As we welcome another school year, PRO NIR stands united with our educators, parents, and communities in ensuring that every learner can pursue education in a safe, secure, and peaceful environment,” he said.

“The deployment of 1,612 personnel reflects our unwavering commitment to protect our students and support our teachers. We want every child to enter the classroom with confidence and every parent to have peace of mind”, he added.

The PRO NIR encourages the public to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious activities to ground personnel or the nearest police station.

Meanwhile, the Bacolod City government warned against fake news circulating on Facebook claiming there are no classes tomorrow, June 8.

The city government in a Facebook post clarified that these posts are false and stated that misleading information will not be tolerated. The city government is now investigating those responsible for circulating the hoax.*
