The Commission on Elections in Negros Occidental has received complaint affidavits against two barangay captain bets for vote buying, Provincial Election Supervisor Ian Lee Ananoria said on Monday, November 6.
Ananoria said other vote buying and election complaints may have been filed directly before the Comelec Law Department.
The two complaint affidavits filed locally were against a winning barangay captain in Bago City and another in San Enrique, which were also forwarded to the Comelec Law Department for action, Ananoria said.
The COMELEC proclaimed all BSKE winners in Negros Occidental and Bacolod last week except for two winning kagawads.
The drawing of lots to break more than 200 ties were also completed last week, Ananoria said.
Still not proclaimed as of Monday are winning kagawads in Barangay Tabigue, EB Magalona, and in Barangay Tangub, Bacolod City, he said.
The Tabigue winner could not be proclaimed because the Commission on Elections has issued a suspension of proclamation order pending resolution of premature campaigning raps against him.
The No. 4 winning kagawad in Barangay Tangub, Bacolod, also could not be proclaimed because of an error by the Barangay Board of Canvassers.
A Comelec order on the Petition to Correct Manifest Error for failure to proclaim Erwin Montaño a winner has yet to be issued, Ananoria said.*
