Victorias City in Negros Occidental received a Seal of Child-Friendly Local Governance award at the SCFLG Regional Conferment Ceremony in Iloilo City on Monday, November 11.
This recognition is a testament to the exemplary efforts of the Local Government Unit led by Mayor Javier Miguel Benitez in prioritizing the welfare and rights of children, and ensuring that their best interests are at the heart of local governance, the Department of the Interior and Local Government said.
By meeting the standards of the Child-Friendly Local Governance Audit, the LGU has set a remarkable example in fostering a community where children can thrive and grow in a safe, nurturing environment, it said.
City Social Welfare Officer Joy Reunir received the award in behalf of Victorias.
Victorias City also received the 2024 Gawad Sulong Award as the Best Local Government Unit in the Implementation of the Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP) presented by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).
The award was conferred in Bacolod City on Oct. 17 to celebrate the outstanding commitment of Victorias to community empowerment and sustainable growth, the DSWD said.
Vice Mayor Abelardo Bantug III and Social Welfare Officer I Ricky Lapidante accepted the award.*
