Victorias City is building a P350 million government center this year, Mayor Javier Miguel Benitez said Thursday, March 16.
It was planned by the previous administration and they are just making sure that the design is right, he said.
The target is for construction of the government center in front of the Sidlak Global City in Barangay 13 to start in the second or third quarter, the mayor said.
The city government will source the P350 million from a loan from the Development Bank of the Philippines, he said.
Benitez said P50 million will be spent for the site development and P300 million for the structure.
The 24-hectare Sidlak Global City and the government center will be designed by world class architect and master planner Carlos Arnaiz, he said.
The Victorias City government is also building 600 housing units in the Sidlak Global Village for city government employees and informal setter families.
A housing project is also being planned for Barangay 16, Victorias, he added.
The city government has also allocated P100 million to boost education in Victorias, he said.
They have purchased 924 laptops for the teaching and non-teaching staff in public schools, and they are procuring an additional 3,555 tablets, he said. Every classroom will have five tablets each, he said.*
