Vice President Sara Duterte called on Kabankalanons to join her campaign against the New People’s Army (NPA) to ensure the growth, development and security of their city on Tuesday, March 14.

“They are the forces that hostage our development as a nation and destroy the future of our children”, Duterte, who spoke at the 116th Founding Anniversary of Kabankalan City in Negros Occidental led by Mayor Benjie Miranda, said.

“One of the pillars in the success of your city is you investment in security”, she said.

The vice president, who is also secretary of education, called on all parents to protect their children from criminality, illegal drugs, terrorism and the insurgency.

“Do not allow your children to be recruited by them because that will determine the future of your city,” she said.

“Illegal drugs, the NPA and terrorists are our enemies, do not forget that,” she said.

Duterte called on parents to ensure that their children study to become productive professionals who can achieve their dreams.

“It is easy to recruit the young because they are like sponges and very malleable, what is taught to them is what they absorb,” she said.

“That is how easy it is to recruit the youth and our children. The future of Kabankalan rests on the success of your children,” Duterte said.

As tourism continues to place Kabankalan on the national map, this growth is most advantageous for your children, she said

Duterte congratulated the newly inducted officers of the Kabankalan City Tourism Council and the Kabankalan City Culture and Arts Council whom she swore into office.

She also pledged to provide assistance to Kabankalan City in its push towards tourism recovery, and in peace and entrepreneurship through her Peace 911 and Magnegosyo ‘Ta Day programs.

Duterte thanked the Kabankalan residents for their support for her in the 2022 polls and for her father during his presidency.*
