Two more coops power rates drop

Two electric cooperatives in Negros Occidental announced a decrease in their electricity rates for the month of December.

The Northern Negros Electric Cooperative (NONECO) announced a P1.3139 per kilowatt-hour decrease in electricity rates from P13.2134/kWh in November to P11.8995/kWh this month.

NONECO attributed it to the decrease in the energy cost in the Wholesale Electricity Spot Market, which went from P7.8364/kWh to P6.0327 this month.

The Negros Occidental Electric Cooperative (NOCECO) also announced an eight-centavo per kilowatt-hour decrease in their electricity rates this month.

NOCECO said the current electricity rate is at P11.8220/kWh. which is P0.8013/kWh lower than November’s P12.6233/kWh.

The decrease in the total residential electricity rates was driven by the total generation charge which was reduced by P1.2968/kWh compared to last month.

NONECO and NOCECO also reminded their member-consumers to conserve energy this Christmas season to avoid paying high electric bills.

Earlier this month Central Negros Electric Cooperative also announced a decrease in its power rates.*
