New Year’s morning turned into a tragedy for a family in Barangay Jonobjonob, Escalante City, after a 43-year-old laborer was killed by a lightning strike inside his own home.
The victim was inside his house in Purok Toril at about 6 a.m. om Thursday, January 1, 2026, when the incident occurred, the police reported.
The area was experiencing a severe thunderstorm characterized by heavy rainfall and lightning.
Witnesses said a sudden, powerful bolt struck the residence hitting Telebrico directly.
The force of the electrical discharge caused severe injuries resulting in his death.*
