
Typhoon Tino’s damage to Negros Occidental agriculture, infrastructure and school facilities has reached close to P2 billion, a Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (PDRRMC) report on Thursday, Nov. 20, showed.
The Nov. 4 typhoon also destroyed 19,862 houses and damaged 180,823 for a total of 200,685 in 26 local government units in Negros Occidental, the report said.
Damage to agriculture totaled P303,135, 434 with rice losses at P105 million, corn P21.1 million, cassava – P816,900, high value crops – P31.1 million, fisheries – P125.6 million, livestock – P18. 8 million and farm machineries – P449,000.
The damage has affected 4,810 farmers and 937 fisherfolk, the PDRRMC reported.
Damage to infrastructure such as roads, bridges, spillways, slope protection, irrigation and government facilities was placed at P1.5 billion.
The Department of Education placed damage to school buildings and other facilities in Negros Occidental at P190 million.*
