The police recued three minors believed to be victims of online sexual abuse and exploitation in Bacolod City, recently.
The Philippine National Police Central Office on Friday, June 12, said the operation was led by the Women and Children Protection Center (WCPC) on June 4 following information obtained through international law enforcement cooperation.
The police said a 51-year-old Filipina was arrested in connection with the case.
The rescue operation was carried out with the support of concerned PNP units and local social welfare authorities.
The three rescued minors were immediately turned over to social welfare personnel for proper care, protection, and psychosocial intervention.
Authorities said investigations are ongoing to identify other individuals who may have been involved in the alleged online exploitation of the children.
PNP chief Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. commended the operating teams and partner agencies for their coordinated efforts in protecting children from abuse and exploitation.
“Every child deserves to grow up in a safe environment, free from abuse and exploitation,” Nartatez said.
He said the successful rescue reflects the commitment of police officers and partner agencies to safeguard vulnerable sectors, particularly children.
The PNP said it will continue to intensify its campaign against online sexual abuse and exploitation of children and other cyber-enabled crimes.
Authorities also assured the public that all legal action will be taken against those found responsible.*
