Three killed in NegOcc

Three  Negrenses  were killed in separate shooting and stabbing incidents in  Cauayan and Himamaylan City, Negros Occidental,  between December 30 and January 1.

In Cauayan, a confrontation between two laborers turned deadly at about  2:40 a.m. on New Year’s Day in Purok 7, Barangay Isio.

A 30-year-old laborer was killed by a person  identified by the police only as alias “Key”, 33.

Alias “Key,” allegedly returned to a scene after an earlier misunderstanding with the victim’s nephew. When he confronted the group with a firearm, the 30-year-old victim reportedly hacked “Key” with a bladed weapon, wounding him in the head. In response, “Key” fired a .45 caliber pistol multiple times hitting the victim in various parts of the body.

They were rushed to the Cauayan District Hospital where the victim was declared dead.

Hours earlier, on New Year’s Eve, another fatal shooting claimed the life of an 18-year-old student in Barangay Baclao, Cauayan.

At around 9 p.m. of Dec. 31  the victim, known as “Jay-R”, was on board a motorcycle when  two unidentified male suspects ambushed him, firing several shots that hit him in multiple parts of his body. He  was rushed to the Merceditas  Montilla District Hospital in Sipalay City where he was pronounced dead, the police said.

In  Himamaylan City, a 67-year-old laborer was killed in Sitio Aglahog Dos, Barangay Mahalang, Tuesday night.

The victim’s wife told  the police that a family identified as the Tenianos forcibly entered their home at 11 p.m. and confronted her husband.

During the altercation, one individual stabbed a witness who tried to intervene, while the primary suspect, a 24-year-old laborer identified as alias “Juni,” shot the 67-year-old victim in the chest, a police report said.

The victim’s family was unable to seek immediate medical help due to fear of being waylaid on the road in the middle of the night. The victim was transported to the Valeriano M. Gatuslao Memorial District Hospital in Himamaylan  the following morning, where he was declared dead.

The police cited a long-standing grudge as the motive and have launched a pursuit operation for the suspect, who remains at large.*
