The non-remittance of SSS contributions by the seven employers is affecting 760 workers in retailing, common carrier, restaurant, placement agency and food processing businesses.

If their contribution records are not updated, they will not be entitled to claim SSS benefits or to apply for loan programs.

The SSS also served notices of delinquency to   seven employers in Bacolod and Silay cities on Thursday, May 2.

The employers were issued notices of delinquency for failure to remit P7,918,025.27,  Pineda said earlier.

SSS members can check if their SSS contribution record is updated using the My.SSS Portal, which they can access through their smartphones.

Non-remittance of SSS premiums is a criminal offense that violates Republic Act No. 11199 and  violators will be penalized with a fine of P5,000 to P20,000 and face imprisonment ranging from six years and one day to 12 years, the SSS said.*
