The Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) of Negros Occidental unanimously approved a P7,618,490,053 budget for 2026, a P1.1 billion increase from this year, during its regular session Tuesday afternoon, December 2.

The 2026 budget includes P7,323,854,053 for the General Fund and P294,636,000 for the Economic Enterprise Development Department of the provincial government.

The provincial budget was approved on second and third reading upon motion of Board Member Marxlen de la Cruz, Committee on Finance and Budget chairperson.

The 2026 budget is P1.1 billion or 17.98 percent more than this year’s P 6.457 billion budget.

Next year’s budget will come from local sources, including tax and non-tax revenue and charges amounting to P668.5 million, and the National Tax Allotment (NTA) of P6.6 billion.

The increase reflects the provincial government’s intent to intensify investment in hospital upgrades and key areas such as social services, infrastructure, agriculture, health care, and disaster management.*
