SP ok’s creation of body to investigate BTAO

The Bacolod Sangguniang Panlungsod unanimously approved the creation of an investigative body to inquire and investigate the alleged illegal and corrupt activities at the Bacolod Traffic Authority Office.

The SP approved the creation of the investigative body sought in a resolution filed by Councilor Al Victor Espino, chair of the SP Committee on Laws, Ordinances and Good Government, during its regular session on Wednesday, October 25.

Meanwhile, the request of Bacolod Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez for authority to sign a Deed of Absolute Sale for a 257,216-square meter property located in Barangay Felisa, Bacolod City, worth P128,608,000 was referred to the committee of Espino for review.

The property is intended for the expansion of the city’s landfill site.

The deed of sale will be between Bacolod City and Willy U. Au, Jan Niko Espadero Yap, Jose Horace Chavez Yap, Kay Marie Espadero Yap, Jose Antonio P. Alone, Jr., Martin Jose O. Alonte and Anton Miguel O. Alone, represented by their attorney-in fact, Willy U. Au.

The Committee on Laws, Ordinances and Good Government accepted the deed of absolute sale for review prior to approval of the mayor’s request for authority to sign, Espino said.

It will be submitted to the SP in its next session for action, he added.*
