A Philippine Army soldier and a member of the Citizen Armed Force Geographical Unit Active Auxiliary were killed in a daylight shooting incident in Barangay Maquiling, Sagay City, Tuesday afternoon, May 12.
The ambush occurred at approximately 3:10 p.m. in Purok Kalubihan, the Police Regional Office Negros Island Region reported.
The police said the victims were traveling on a motorcycle from their detachment toward Barangay Bato when unidentified armed suspects opened fire.
The victims have been identified as a 48-year-old Philippine Army soldier of Zarraga, Iloilo, and a CAA member of Barangay Celestino Villacin, Cadiz City.
Both victims succumbed to their injuries at the scene, the police report said.*
