Seven local government units (LGUs) in northern Negros Occidental remain without full electricity following the widespread power outages caused by Typhoon “Tino.”
As of 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, November 5, the Northern Negros Electric Cooperative (NONECO) said restoration efforts are still ongoing in E.B. Magalona, Victorias City, Manapla, Escalante City, Toboso, Calatrava, and parts of Sagay City.
Power in E.B. Magalona, Victorias, and Manapla has yet to be restored pending the test energization of the Bacayan Substation, which supplies electricity to these areas.
NONECO reported that repair teams have fixed a collapsed Type B pole in Brgy. Dacumon, Victorias City, and a Type HS pole in Hacienda San Juan, Cadiz City, as part of the ongoing repair of the Cadiz–VMC 69kV transmission line.
In Escalante City and Toboso, line crews are still working to repair toppled 69kV transmission lines, while in Calatrava, clearing operations continue along the backbone line of the Calatrava Feeder.
Partial restoration has been achieved in some areas.
Cadiz City now has around 80 percent of its city proper energized, Sagay City is at 25 percent and San Carlos City has reached 20 percent restoration.
NONECO explained that communication and internet disruptions caused by the typhoon have delayed real-time updates, but assured consumers that field personnel continue to work tirelessly to restore service.
“Our Warriors of Light continue to work diligently to safely restore power to all affected member-consumer-owners (MCOs) at the soonest possible time,” the cooperative said in its statement.*
