Bacolod City officials and residents received a much-needed morale boost today, Nov. 18, as the Senate Spouses Foundation Inc. (SSFI) paid a courtesy call to Mayor Greg Gasataya at the Bacolod City Government Center, signaling the launch of a major medical and gift-giving initiative in the city.
The 16-member delegation, which included representatives from the offices of Senate Spouses, Staff from the Office of Senator Raffy Tulfo, Senate Assist, and the Office of the Sergeant at Arms, met with Mayor Gasataya on the first day of their three-day charitable visit, a press released from the Bacolod City Communications Office said.
The SSFI’s project is centered on providing timely medical assistance and an early Christmas gift-giving program, which includes a special shopping spree for children. The main event is scheduled to take place tomorrow, November 19, at SM Bacolod.
Mayor Greg Gasataya expressed his gratitude for the foundation’s choice of Bacolod as a beneficiary, particularly following the recent challenges posed by a devastating typhoon.
“Our city was recently hit and damaged by a typhoon, and for many of our people, recovery is ongoing,” Gasataya said. “To have the Senate Spouses Foundation choose Bacolod at this time, bringing medical aid and happiness to our children, is truly heartwarming.”
Known for its extensive history of socio-civic and humanitarian programs, the non-profit SSFI is an organization composed of the wives and spouses of reigning and former Senators of the Philippines. Their mission often focuses on uplifting marginalized sectors, including victims of calamities and those needing medical support.
The visit underscores the SSFI’s commitment to supporting disaster-stricken communities and bringing immediate relief and joy where it is most needed. The city government extends its deepest thanks to the entire SSFI delegation and all supporting Senate offices for their compassionate and timely intervention in Bacolod, the press release said.*
