The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has assured faster transactions for clients in Negros Oriental and Siquijor with the establishment of a satellite office in Dumaguete City.

Annabelle Corral-Respall, Director III of the SEC Bacolod Extension Office, said the move aligns with the agency’s goal to streamline services following the creation of the Negros Island Region (NIR) in 2023.

To support operations, the SEC approved a plantilla position for a Certified Public Accountant to handle technical applications and provide administrative assistance.

However, due to resource constraints, CPA-lawyer Leo Futalan Salvador from Siaton, Negros Oriental, will serve as officer-in-charge, available on Thursdays and Fridays.

She also underscored SEC’s digitalization efforts, noting that most services are now accessible online.

The SEC has partnered with local institutions, including Foundation University, the municipality of Valencia, and the Negros Oriental Chamber of Commerce and Industry (NOCCI), among others.

NOCCI president Edward Du welcomed the SEC office, underscoring its convenience for business clients.

He said NOCCI is the only chamber in the country to house an SEC office, ensuring faster transactions.

The SEC recently signed an agreement with the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) to enhance services in the region.*PNA
