The Sagay City government will inaugurate its P156 million Sagay City Public Bus Terminal, in time with its 26th Charter Anniversary celebration and oath-taking of elected officials, Saturday, June 11.
The new bus terminal at Brgy. Poblacion II fronting the Sagay National High School, features a two-storey architectural glass building and a parking space that can accommodate 18 buses at the same time.
The P156,684,000 terminal was constructed in January this year.
The budget came from the city’s development fund worth P25,684,000 and the P131,000,000 from city government’s term loan from Land Bank of the Philippines, a press release from Sagay City said.
It is one of the remaining landmark projects that will be inaugurated by Mayor Alfredo Marañon III before he steps down to commence his duties as the new Negros Occidental 2nd District representative.
“The terminal was constructed to afford residents, tourists and travelers a world-class bus terminal for a safe and convenient travel,” the mayor said.
TERMINAL FEATURES
The terminal features Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology that will be adapted in its toll fee mechanism, similar to NLEX and SLEX.
It also has 28 CCTV cameras installed around the vicinity.
There is also a designated parking space for tricycles and mini buses in the 7,715 square meter terminal.
The terminal’s waiting area has a seating capacity of 220 people.
The building, designed by Architech Wendel Duran, has 21 stalls with 2 big rentable spaces, a metal detector machine at the entrance, and telephone/paging layout plan.
Fastfood chain Jollibee, Greenwich and Red Ribbon are expected to rent spaces in the building while 7/11 has expressed its intention to rent as well.
CHARTER CELEBRATION
The blessing and inauguration will be held after the charter anniversary program and oath-taking of officials at the Taliambong Activity Center at the Sagay City Public Plaza.
Elected Sagay Mayor Narciso “Narwin” Javelosa Jr., Vice Mayor Leo Rafael Cueva, Rep. Alfredo Marañon, III, and new city councilors will take their oaths and are expected to deliver their inaugural messages during the program.
Kicking off the celebration on June 10, the City Information and Tourism Office opened the Sagay City Visual Arts Competition in partnership with Syano Artlink and Maestro Nunelucio Alvarado.
Apart from the charter anniversary program, a motor bike competition and street party will also be held on June 11.
Closing the activities on June 12 will be the celebration of the 124th Philippine Independence Day in partnership with DepEd Sagay City Division.*
