Bacolod Mayor Greg Gasataya said he has received a written reply from the former head of the Office of Building Official (OBO) to a complaint that he allegedly solicited funds for the release of an occupancy permit.
This reply was forwarded to the City Legal Office for proper action, Gasataya said at a press conference on Monday, August 4.
The mayor had issued a show-cause order to Engineer Isidro Sun Jr. of the OBO to submit his explanation in response to a complaint that he allegedly solicited P11,000 for the release of an occupancy permit for a building in Barangay Mansilingan, Bacolod City.
“These acts, if proven true, may constitute grave misconduct, serious dishonesty, and conduct prejudicial to the best interest of the service, punishable under the 2017 Rules on Administrative Cases in the Civil Service, as well as in violation of Section 13 of RA 11032, otherwise known as the Anti-Red Tape Act under the Ease of Doing Business law,” the mayor said in his show-cause order.
In his response, Sun denied the allegation against him.
Gasataya said that another case involving a Bacolod Environment and Natural Resources employee, which started during the time of then-Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez, is also up for action.
The investigation report and recommendation have been submitted to him, Gasataya said, adding that the complaint also involved an employee allegedly soliciting funds for a processing permit.
After reviewing the report, he will take the necessary action, he said.*
