Rebel leader surrenders in northern Negros: Army 

One of the leaders of the Northern Negros Front  of the New People’s Army surrendered to the 79th Infantry Battalion in Escalante City, Negros Occidental, on Sunday, March 17. 

The vice squad leader and “Intel ng Laranga 1” of the NNF surrendered,  the 79th IB said in a press release. 

The surenderee is the closest cohort of Roger Fabillar/Arnel Tapan alias Jhong, Nono, and Domeng who was involved in the recent clash between the NPA and the police in Sitio Icugan, Brgy. Minapasok in Calatrava town. 

Lt. Col. Arnel Calaoagan, 79IB commander, assured that the surrenderee will be processed according to the standard operating procedure and  his rights will be   respected. 

“This is a clear manifestation of their frustration to the hideous lies and the current ill and rotten situation of the NPA brought about by the series of encounters at Brgy Pinapugasan, Escalante City,” he said. 

He also said that Army will remain steadfast in their commitment to realize the declaration of Negros as province under a Stable Internal Peace and Security Situation.*
