The Negros Occidental Provincial Veterinary Office (PVO) is rounding up stray dogs and cats at the Mambukal Resort and Wildlife Sanctuary in Murcia.
They had seized 15 cats and dogs as of Monday, July 1, Acting Provincial Administrator Alberto Nellas Jr. said.
They were rounded up for the safety of the public at the resort and in Barangay Minoyan, he said.
He said cats and dogs were rounded up by the PVO personnel with the help of the Bago City and Murcia veterinary offices.
The animals will be brought to the Minoyan pound and to the PVO office at the Panaad Park for spaying, neutering, vaccination and treatment, after which they will be put up for adoption, Nellas said.
They also took a specimen from one of the dogs for testing after one person was bitten earlier, Nellas said.
Minoyan Barangay Captain Eric Espinosa said the provincial government did no coordinate with his office and they do not have a pound for stray dogs and cats.*
