Psychological intervention held to lower evacuees stress levels

The Escalante City Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict and the Army on Friday, March 1, conducted a psychological intervention for residents of Brgy. Pinapugsan who were recently affected by an encounter in the area.

The Escalante City government, 79the Infantry Batallion and the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office conducted the intervention for the internally displaced persons (IDPs).

The army said that psychological interventions aim to elevate the IDPs’ well-being, lower their stress levels, promote personalized growth, alleviate symptoms, and target possible disorders.

Present during the event were Escalante Mayor Melecio Yap Jr., Vice Mayor Rogelio Prietos, Provincial Social Welfare Officer Chiqui Gonzales, Escalante Social Welfare Officer Janine G. Aguanta, and Pedro Casipong, teacher in charge of Pinapugasan Elementary School.

The city government also distributed clothes, grocery items, relief supplies, and hygiene kits to the more than 150 families during the event.*
