Kabankalan City in Negros Occidental is set to host the first local government-managed Civil Registry System (CRS) outlet in the Negros Island Region (NIR), a strategic move aimed at significantly improving public access to essential government services.
The CRS outlet in Kabankalan City, strategically located in southern Negros Occidental, will provide crucial PSA services to residents of Kabankalan and the surrounding areas, National Statistician and Civil Registrar General Claire Dennis Mapa said on Wednesday, June 4.
The Kabankalan City CRS outlet will hold the distinction of being only the second of its kind in the entire Philippines.
Following the recent signing of a memorandum of agreement (MOA) between the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA)-NIR and the city government, the targeted opening date for the facility has been set for August, according to the agency.
PSA said the partnership demonstrates the commitment of the newly established PSA Regional Statistical Services Office NIR to decentralizing services and enhancing public convenience.
“Residents in the area will no longer need to travel to the provincial capital to request civil registry documents. This marks a significant step forward in serving the communities of the NIR,” it said.
The MOA signing on May 30 was led by National Statistician Claire Dennis Mapa and Kabankalan City Mayor Benjie Miranda, with PSA-Western Visayas officer-in-charge Nelida Amolar and PSA-NIR interim Regional Director John Campomanes also in attendance.*PNA
