The Liga ng mga Barangay sa Pilipinas (League of Barangays in the Philippines) – Negros Occidental chapter will hold its election on Friday, January 12, Teodora Sumagaysay, provincial director of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), said on Wednesday, January 10
The winning league president will sit as an ex-officio member of the Negros Occidental Sangguniang Panlalawigan.
Victorias City village chief Richard Julius Sablan of Barangay 2 is said to be the front runner for league president.
Juvy Pepillo, also a barangay captain of Victorias City, is the outgoing league president.
The league, Commission on Election and a chosen civil society organization will be in charge of the conduct of the polls, Sumagaysay said.
The DILG will just oversee the election process, she said.*
