PRO-NIR nets 208 arrests, P4.3M in drugs in a week

The Police Regional Office–Negros Island Region (PRO NIR) reported major gains as it concluded its weeklong Simultaneous Anti-Criminality and Law Enforcement Operations (SACLEO) from Sept. 22 to 28.

A total of 208 operations were conducted across Negros Occidental, Negros Oriental, Siquijor, and Bacolod City, resulting in multiple arrests and seizures, PRO NIR said in a press release on Monday, Sept. 29.

The police arrested 111 individuals, including 23 most wanted and 88 other wanted persons.

Fifty anti-drug operations led to the arrest of 64 suspects and the confiscation of 652.436 grams of suspected shabu worth P4.3 million.

Authorities also carried out 32 operations against loose firearms, which resulted in three arrests, the recovery of five firearms, and the surrender of 27 more.

Meanwhile, 15 anti-illegal gambling operations led to the arrest of 37 individuals and the confiscation of P3,468 in bet money.

PRO NIR Regional Director PBGen. Arnold Thomas Ibay said the accomplishments reflect the unit’s intensified campaign to fight criminality, illegal drugs, and other threats to public safety.

He added that the agency will continue to sustain its momentum with the support of communities and stakeholders, aiming to make the Negros Island Region safer and more secure.*
