PRO-NIR issues holiday security reminders, heightens police visibility

The Police Regional Office–Negros Island Region issued security reminders to the public on Thursday, Dec. 18, as it intensifies peace and order measures for the Yuletide season.

PRO-NIR urged residents and visitors to remain vigilant amid increased travel, gatherings, and commercial activities during Christmas and the New Year.

The police advised the public to secure homes and valuables, stay alert in crowded places such as malls, markets, churches, and transport terminals, and strictly observe traffic laws, particularly the ban on drunk driving.

The public was also reminded to comply with local ordinances on firecrackers and pyrotechnics, practice fire safety at home, and closely supervise children to prevent accidents during the holiday season.

In line with these reminders, PRO-NIR has heightened police visibility through intensified patrols, strategic checkpoints, and close coordination with local government units, barangay officials, and force multipliers across the region.

PRO-NIR Regional Director BGen. Arnold Thomas Ibay said public cooperation is vital to ensure safety during the holidays.

He said police efforts, combined with responsible behavior from the public, can help ensure a peaceful and orderly Christmas and New Year for Negrenses.

PRO-NIR encouraged the public to immediately report any suspicious persons or activities to the nearest police station or through local hotlines.

The police assured the public of continuous efforts to safeguard lives and property throughout the Yuletide season.*
