Press club elects new prexy

Negros Press Club members elected their new president on Saturday, January 15, at the NPC building in Bacolod City.

Elected president was Aquilino “Boy” Ciocon of RPN-DyKB who garnered 48 votes against incumbent treasurer Eden Aboso of Aksyon Radyo Bacolod with 40 votes.

Ciocon, who replaced outgoing president Yves Montecillo of RMN-DyHB, and the new set of officers will assume office on March 1.

He said he will continue the programs of his predecessor for the welfare of the members.

Also elected were NPC past president Rey Siason of Muews FM for vice president, Henceboy Cestina of DyRL for treasurer, and NPC past president Elsie Jolingan for auditor. All were unopposed.

Adrian Nemes of SunStar Bacolod was also elected as a secretary with 47 votes against Raquel Gariando of RPN-DyKB with 34 votes.

Elected as directors were Bryan Morden, Jun Gaton, Manny Canto and Chito Berjit.

This is the second time the NPC had to forego its annual general assembly due to the COVID-19 pandemic, with Bacolod City currently placed under Alert Level 3 status.

Around 90 members voted, including Mayor Evelio Leonardia, an NPC past president.*
