Power Watch urges Congress to grant franchise for NEPC

Power Watch Negros Advocates (PWNA) are urging Congress to grant a franchise to the Negros Electric Power Corporation (NEPC) as they believe it will be a “standard for how distribution utilities should operate”.

The PWNA said they are looking forward to the passage of House Bill 9310, to enable NEPC to operate.

It will be a testament to how the corporation will provide excellent service and put the welfare of the consumers first, PWNA said.

“Power Watch is confident that the outstanding electric power services of MORE Power Corp. in Iloilo City will be replicated by NEPC in Negros as an outstanding example of a DU that gives priority to the welfare of the consumers,” the press release said.

PWNA also said that NEPC will invest billions of pesos that will be used for rehabilitation work, construction of new substations, installation of protective systems, and acquisition of 36MVA mobile substations for improved voltage regulation.

The group said it believes that NEPC will be a flashpoint in the economic development of Negros.*
