The average residential rate of Central Negros Electric Cooperative (CENECO) for September is P15.6983/kWh, an increase of P0.2211/kwh, from last month’s rate of P15.4772/kwh, its acting general manger Erwin Stan Leo Ticar said Monday, September 19.
He attributed the P0.2211/kWh rate hike to the increase in generation, transmission and system loss charges.
The increase was because of an error in the metering data of the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) for the billing period of January 26 to February 25, which triggered the corresponding adjustment that resulted to an increase in the Wholesale Electricity Spot Market (WESM) power cost, he said.
The pass-through charges equivalent to P14.5117/kWh of the total power rate include the Generation and Transmission charges, ERC-approved adjustments, government subsidies and taxes, Ticar said.
Only P1.1866/kWh of the power rate goes to CENECO through Distribution, Supply, Metering (DSM) Charges and Reinvestment Fund for Sustainable CAPEX (RFSC) for its administrative and operational services. Since 2010, CENECO’s DSM and RFSC rate has not increased, he said.
He said for every kWh consumed by residential consumers, roughly 10 to 14 percent of the total bill goes to CENECO.
