The posting of campaign materials in public markets, gyms, barangay halls and other government facilities is prohibited, Bacolod Elections Officer Revo Sorbito reminded Thursday, March 17.

The Commission on Elections is scheduled to remove campaign materials of national candidates in public places in downtown Bacolod City on Friday, March 18, he also said.

Campaign materials of national candidates are allowed only in Comelec designated areas, he stressed.

However, a Supreme Court temporary restraining order prohibits them from removing campaign materials from private property.

The Comelec along with representatives from the Philippine National Police and the Bureau of Fire Protection have inspected a warehouse in Bacolod City where vote counting machines and other election paraphernalia for the May 9 polls will be stored when they arrive, he said.

The facility is equipped with CCTV cameras, Sorbito said.

The ballot boxes have already arrived, he added.*
