PNP: Beheaded man was facing drug raps, just released on bail

The man who was beheaded in Bacolod City Tuesday night was facing illegal possession of drugs raps and had just been released from jail on bail, PMaj. Ramel Sarona, Police Station 1 chief, said Wednesday, September 1.

He was identified as Glen Paul Bautista Castillo, 42, of General Trias, Cavite.

Castillo had been living at Deca Homes in Barangay Cabug, Bacolod City, with his live-in partner Analie dela Cruz Baldevieso, 36. They were arrested in a police buy bust operation at their house on August 21, Sarona said.

Baldevieso was charged for the sale of drugs that is a non-bailable offense, while Castillo was facing illegal possession of drugs raps and was able to post bail for his temporary liberty on Friday, August 27, Sarona said.

Castilo was picked up at his house by the men who killed him at about 8:20 p.m. Tuesday, Sarona said.

He sustained gunshot and stab wounds and was dead when his body was dumped at about 9:15 p.m. Tuesday in the same spot where a policeman was shot dead at Rosario Street, Barangay 38, Bacolod City, on Sunday, Sarona added.

Witnesses said two vehicles with about eight persons on board arrived at Rosario Street and unloaded Castillo’s body as they fired their guns in the air.

One person then got off the vehicle, beheaded the man, and placed the head in a sack and left with it, Sarona said.

A head was found soon after in Purok Sigay, Barangay 2, Bacolod City.

Sarona said they are looking for possible CCTV footage that could help them identify the assailants.

An autopsy of the remains of Castillo was conducted Wednesday, he said.

May Castillo Monge, the sister of the victim who lives in Alaska, called for justice for her brother. He did not deserve what happened to him, he was a good person and he was not a drug user, Monge said.

The sister, who posted bail for her brother , said it could be the police or the syndicate who are responsible for his death.

The couple have a 9-month-old son.

A message, on a cardboard beside Castillo’s body, said “Bayad sa utang!!! Interest palang…Capital preparar para suma total!!! Halong Bacolod (Payment for a debt!!!This is just the interest …prepare capital for the total!!! Be careful Bacolod)”.

The police are still investigating the motive for the killing of Castillo and determining who were responsible for it, Sarona said.

His body was found at the spot where SSgt Joseph Nepomuceno, 37, of the police Drug Enforcement Unit, was killed on Sunday.*
