Planters group, coops back Leni for president

A planters association and two cooperatives announced their support for the presidential bid of Vice President Leni Robredo Sunday, October 10.

Members of the VICMICO Planters’ Association, VICMICO Planters’ Multi-Purpose Cooperative, and VMC Farmers Multi-Purpose Cooperative, in a statement issued Sunday, October 10, endorsed Robredo to be the country’s president in 2022.

Robredo is a servant leader and it is for this reason that we endorse her to be president, the statement said.

“Servant Leadership is not easy. It is very hard. But it can be sustained if one decides that this is how life must be lived. For service. For others,” it added.

Meanwhile, 25 youth organizations in Negros also issued a statement of support for Robredo’s presidential bid.

The Negros Youth for Leni, an alliance of youth organizations and leaders, believes that a Robredo presidency will help Filipinos heal from the pandemics of COVID-19, corrupt governance and national division, the N4L statement said.

The alliance believes that with Robredo, “we can rebuild a Philippines that is free from disease, poverty, and hunger,” it said.

A group of alumni, students, and faculty from Augustinian schools also issued a statement of support Robredo’s presidential run in the 2022.

They envision that Robredo can lead the Philippines to “a safer, healthier, peaceful and prosperous nation”, their statement said.

Augustinians for Leni is a loose coalition of students, faculty, alumni, and laity from La Consolacion College Bacolod, Colegio San Agustin Bacolod, and University of Negros Occidental Recoletos, the statement added.*
