Pinoy pop rock band ‘The Juans’ will open MassKara Festival 2023

Known for their “relatable hugot” songs, Filipino pop rock band The Juans will be the main attraction to usher in the MassKara Festival 2023 during the opening salvo at the Bacolod City Government Center on October 6.

The Juans are composed of lead singer-songwriter and keyboardist Carl Guevarra, vocals and lead guitarist, Japheth Mendoza, Joseph Rafael Cruz vocals and acoustic guitar, and vocalist and bass guitar, Carl Michael Adriano, a press release from the Bacolod Yuhum Foundation said.

Founded in 2013, the band became an overnight sensation after coming up with songs that are emotionally relatable to Filipinos, most popular themes of which include heartbreak themed songs and inspirational ones.

Among these songs are “Hindi Tayo Pwede” and “Pangalawang Bitaw” that got shared and streamed millions of times online. Other songs that they popularized were Binibini sa MRT, Makasama, Balisong, Atin ang Mundo and Istorya.

Their song, Manalangin, was hailed as one of the most inspiring songs that came out post the pandemic.

More recently, the band came out with their single “Back Home” which tells about their childhood and the pains of growing up.

Bacolod Yuhum Foundation said there will be other performers joining The Juans to herald the start of the festivities.*
