The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency- Negros Island Region (PDEA-NIR) operatives seized an estimated P408,000 worth of suspected shabu during a buy-bust operation in Brgy. Orong, Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental, on Friday morning, Jan. 9.
The suspect was identified as Jonel Eguis, 46, of Brgy. Orong and was listed under the “Isumbong Mo Sa PDEA” program.
PDEA–NIR said the operation was conducted at around 11 a.m. by its Regional Special Enforcement Team, together with the PDEA Negros Occidental Provincial Office, Kabankalan City Police Station, CGIU-NNOC, and the PNP Maritime Law Enforcement Team.
Authorities recovered nine heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets containing suspected shabu with a total estimated weight of around 60 grams.
Police records showed that one gram of shabu is valued at P6,800, placing the total estimated street value of the seized drugs at P408,000.
The suspect will face charges for violations of Republic Act No. 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.*
