P1.08M in suspected shabu seized in Bayawan buy-bust

Police seized about P1,088,000 worth of suspected shabu in a buy-bust operation that led to the arrest of a 59-year-old high-value target in Bayawan City, Negros Oriental, on Saturday night, Aug. 23.

The suspect, identified as Ramil Tinaytina Villamil, also known as “Ramil,” was collared by the Drug Enforcement Unit of Bayawan City Police Station in Brgy. Villareal.

Operatives said Villamil, a resident of Bollos Street, Brgy. Boyco, had been under surveillance prior to the operation, which was carried out in coordination the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency.

Recovered from the suspect were one sachet of suspected shabu sold to an undercover operative, four large sachets of the same substance, a genuine P500 buy-bust bill, several bogus bills, a cellphone, lighters, a sling bag, and coins.

The seized drugs weighed about 160 grams.

The inventory of evidence was conducted in the presence of a Department of Justice representative and a barangay official.

Villamil was brought to Bayawan police station, where charges for violation of Sections 5 and 11 of Republic Act 9165 are being prepared.*
