More than half of the assistance for those affected by Typhoon Tino in Negros Occidental under the Emergency Cash Transfer (ECT) program of the Department of Social Welfare and Development has been released as of Monday, March 2.
DSWD Negros Island Region Director Arwin Razo said on Wednesday that more than P574 million has been distributed through the ECT payout, covering more than half of the target beneficiaries.
The amount was released to 85,990 beneficiaries affected by Typhoon Tino from Hinigaran, Isabela, La Castellana, Himamaylan City, La Carlota City and Canlaon City.
The payout process is currently ongoing in Bago City and Pulupandan, Razo said.
Distribution is also scheduled to take place in Binalbagan, Moises Padilla, and Pontevedra within this week.
The department is aiming to complete the entire payout by mid-March to ensure they can transition to releasing social pensions for senior citizens on schedule, Razo said.*
