Police Regional Office-Negros Island Region (PRO-NIR) operatives seized more than P3.5 million in suspected shabu in three separate operations in Bacolod City on the second day of the MassKara Festival on Thursday, October 2.
The Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) arrested four high-value individuals and one street-level personality in the buy-bust operations.
Operatives from Bacolod Police Station 8 arrested alias “Pindot,” 27, at Brgy. Singcang-Airport and recovered about 170 grams of suspected shabu worth P1,156,000.
Minutes later, the City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU) arrested alias “Kwa-Kwa,” 41, at Brgy. 40 with about 100 grams of suspected shabu worth P680,000.
Police Station 2 also arrested three drug personalities at Brgy. 1, alias “Mark,” 21, alias “Reniel,” 22, and alias “Dave,” 23, and seized about 250 grams of suspected shabu worth P1.7 million.
The operations followed back-to-back drug busts on the first day of the festival, Oct. 1, when BCPO intercepted high-value targets and confiscated P1.97 million worth of suspected shabu in two operations.
PRO-NIR Regional Director BGen. Arnold Thomas Ibay said the series of operations show the police’s firm commitment to prevent illegal drugs from infiltrating the city during the celebration.
“We will not allow illegal drugs to cast a shadow on this celebration or endanger the lives of our people,” Ibay said.
The police assured that intensified checkpoints, patrols, and follow-up operations will continue throughout the MassKara festivities.*
