NPA claims responsibility for killing livestock buyer

The New People’s Army (NPA) has claimed responsibility for killing a 54-year-old livestock buyer who was shot dead in Sitio Makilo, Brgy. Camansi, Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental, on Sunday afternoon, Dec. 14.

The Armando Sumayang Jr. Command of the NPA’s Southwest Negros Guerrilla Front in a statement Monday alleged that the victim was an asset of the military who supposedly provided information that led to the killing of his own father and a companion in 2022.

The NPA said the killing was conducted as a result of its internal investigation. It accused the victim of collaborating with state security forces, a claim that could not be independently verified.

Police earlier reported that the victim, a widower and resident of the area, was fixing a motorcycle when two unidentified men arrived and shot him in the head and back

The victim was pronounced dead a barangay health worker, and the police recovered two fired cartridges of a .45 caliber pistol at the crime scene.*
