No more watchers at CLMMRH

The management of the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital in Bacolod City announced Monday, April 19, that it will no longer allow patient watchers inside the medical facility to stop the spread of coronavirus.

Dr. Julius Drilon, CLMMRH chief, said that it has been observed in the past two weeks that the COVID-19 cases in Bacolod City and Negros Occidental have been “increasing drastically through community transmission.”

“Evidently, the combined cases of the city and province have reached more than 200 persons per day, and it is alarming that people’s complacent behavior in the community has contributed to this situation. The poor observation of health safety protocols and attending of mass gatherings have increased the likelihood of exposure in the community,” he said.

He stressed that it is necessary that CLMMRH has to amend processes on hospital operations and strictly enforce policies to mitigate the transmission of COVID-19 within the premises.

“The hospital will no longer allow watchers to stay with the patients after being assessed by healthcare workers to be independent in activities of daily living after the necessary surgical or medical intervention,” Drilon said.

He said that the hospital management is assuring the public that proper and adequate care, as well as timely updates, will be provided by their medical personnel.

“The hospital has to ensure the safety of all patients and healthcare workers from unnecessary exposure from the COVID-19 disease to allow faster recovery and ensure the continuation of hospital services with adequate manpower,” he added.*
