NIR registered voters above 3M mark, NegOcc count drops by 0.37 percent

The Negros Island Region (NIR) has recorded a total of 3,063,154 regular registered voters as of the April 2026 Election Registration Board (ERB) hearing, reflecting a marginal increase of 0.13 percent from the May 2025 National and Local Elections.

Comparative data from Commission on Elections (Comelec) NIR Regional Director Lionel Marco Castillano released Wednesday showed that while the region as a whole saw growth, provincial trends remained mixed ahead of the November 2 Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE).

Negros Occidental remains the most voter-rich province in the region with 1,994,337 regular voters, despite a slight decrease of 0.37 percent from its May 2025 count of 2,001,732.

That is because despite a large number of new voter registrants in the province, voters had also been purged from the in the January and April ERB hearings this year, Castillano said.

Voters removed from the list were those who had failed to vote for two consecutive elections, those who died, double registrants and those who transferred to other areas, he said.

Hopefully, more will register to vote before the May 18 deadline, Castillano said.

Negros Oriental logged 985,623 regular voters, showing a growth of 0.97 percent compared to the previous year.

Siquijor recorded the highest percentage increase at 2.20 percent bringing its regular voter population to 83,194.

The data also highlights a significant Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) voter base for the upcoming polls.

The region currently has 1,084,185 registered SK voters, with 700,115 in Negros Occidental, 355,044 in Negros Oriental, and 29,026 in Siquijor.*
