New police stations seen to boost safety, services in Jimalalud, La Libertad

Police visibility, faster response time, and stronger community service are expected with the inauguration of two new police stations in Jimalalud and La Libertad in Negros Oriental, the Police Regional Office–Negros Island Region (PRO-NIR) said.

The facilities, inaugurated on Wednesday, Sept. 10, by PRO-NIR Regional Director Brig. Gen. Arnold Thomas Ibay, are part of efforts to modernize police infrastructure in line with the PNP’s 7-Point Focus Agenda, which emphasizes resource efficiency, accountability, and improved delivery of public service.

“These modern facilities are not just buildings, they represent our collective commitment to efficient policing, accountability, and proactive measures to keep our towns safe and peaceful,” Ibay said.

The Jimalalud Municipal Police Station was blessed and turned over in Brgy. South Poblacion with Mayor Hazel Tuanda in attendance, while the La Libertad MPS was inaugurated in Brgy. South Poblacion with Mayor Lawrence Limkaichong Jr.

Ibay thanked the local government units for supporting the PNP, stressing that strong partnerships between the police and LGUs are crucial in addressing crimes and maintaining peace and order.

The new stations are expected to enhance police visibility in remote barangays, improve coordination during emergencies, and provide more accessible services to residents.

“We assure you that we will work relentlessly to prevent and control crimes until we make these communities safer and more secure,” Ibay said.*
