Negros vaccinates 24% of 2-day NVD target

Negros Occidental vaccinated 24.02 percent of its target in the third round of the national vaccination days (NVD) drive against COVID-19 on Thursday and Friday, February 10 and 11, a report from Provincial Administrator Rayfrando Diaz showed Saturday.

Vaccinated provincewide were 30,445 of the 128,848 NVD target.

The NVD has been extended until February 18, the Department of Health (DOH) announced Friday, February 11.

A total of 1,114,788 Negros Occidental residents have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19, Dr. Ernell Tumimbang, provincial health officer, said on Friday.

They need to vaccinate 2,098,421 residents or 80 percent of the province’s population to hit the target for population protection, he said.

Meanwhile, Bacolod City has long surpassed fully vaccinating 80 percent of its population, which is about 328, 616, Em Ang, Bacolod Emergency Operations Center executive director, said.*
