Negros Trade Fair sales hit P780K in three days

The 35th Negros Trade Fair (NTF) sales hit P780,000 on its third day Monday, May 31, MaryAnn Colmenares, Association of Negros Producers vice president for advocacy, said.

Of the total sales P720,000 were made online, we are very happy with the public’s response, Michael Claparols, NTF chairman, said.

The 35th edition was cancelled in 2020 due to pandemic, but the NTF is back and has gone online starting Saturday, May 29, and will run until to June 30, Colmenares said.

One can shop for Negrense products at shopnegrostradefair.com, she said.

The response has been very good with everything going online amid the pandemic, she said.

Among the products on sale at the ongoing trade fair are organic food, Negrense delicacies, garments, fashion accessories, furniture, décor, and houseware.

Tourism Secretary Bernadette Romulo Puyat, who delivered a virtual message at the opening of the trade fair at the new ANP Showroom at the South Capitol Road in Bacolod, said it has been one of her favorite yearly events.

“I always look forward to checking out the latest in local craftsmanship, home accessories, organic products, and of course, the glorious Negrense cuisine,” she said..

The country’s longest running provincial trade fair, which was always held in Metro Manila, will now be able to reach more people in the country through the e-commerce platform, she said.

Small to medium enterprises from the island of Negros will have access to a wider customer base and even have the opportunity to connect with an international market, Puyat said.

“The Department of Tourism is proud to partner with ANP as we work together to promote tourism, support MSMEs and farmers, highlight local craftsmanship, and restore jobs and livelihoods that were affected by the pandemic,” she said.*
