Negros Power lights the way for safer schools in Brigada Eskwela 2026

Demonstrating that community empowerment goes far beyond the power lines, Negros Power said it successfully concluded its week-long intensive support for Brigada Eskwela 2026, in 23 public schools across Central Negros from June 1 to 5.

The utility provider deployed personnel to Bacolod, Bago, Murcia, Silay, and Talisay to join forces with teachers, parents, and volunteers, its press release said Sunday, June 7.

While the initiative focused on the nationwide theme of school maintenance, Negros Power elevated the mission by prioritizing a critical, often overlooked aspect of campus readiness: electrical safety.

In a strategic partnership with the Association of Barangay Electricians and Linemen (ABEL), Negros Power conducted comprehensive, free electrical inspections at every campus visited.

Teams scrutinized wiring systems, switches, outlets, and overall electrical infrastructure to preemptively identify hazards before students return for the new academic year.

“The safety of our learners and educators is one of our priorities,” said Unice Castillon, Community Relations Assistant Manager of Negros Power.

“By identifying potential electrical hazards early, we help create a safer learning environment for students, teachers, and school personnel”, she said.

The initiative covered schools within the Negros Power franchise area, ensuring that both urban and rural schools received professional technical oversight.

The company’s participation in Brigada Eskwela 2026 is a cornerstone of its broader corporate social responsibility (CSR) strategy. By integrating technical expertise with community service, Negros Power aims to foster a “conducive learning environment” for thousands of returning students, the press release said.*
